Fellowship Square joins LHS in sponsoring the Phase II Lutheran House at the Stevenson Street Habitat for Humanity project.
Fellowship Square Foundation is a social ministry organization of the ELCA and LCMS, and it is the largest provider of affordable housing for the elderly and disabled in the Metropolitan Washington DC area. Since its incorporation in 1960, Fellowship Square has built and maintained over 770 units in Reston, Prince William County and Largo, Maryland. The partnership between Lutheran Housing Services and Fellowship Square serves to extend the outreach mission envisioned by Dr. Scherzer to the families and children of our community. Next year, when the keys to the second Lutheran sponsored Habitat for Humanity home are turned over to a new, first time homeowner, Fellowship Square Foundation and Lutheran Housing Services celebrate together another small step toward providing affordable housing for all members of our community.
"We cannot bring heaven down to earth for people pilgrims beyond the last bend in the road, but we can provide a house of "Fellowship" where all can walk the last mile free, proud, independent, trusting their neighbors and friends who love them to the end."
The Rev. John Scherzer
Founding Father of Fellowship Square, 1971.
